Enhanced Academics
Our academy offers girls enhanced academics. Girls are taught about basic, personal economics. They learn about banking services and the importance of savings accounts and related topics that will help them become more self-sufficient as they grow older.

The Girls After School Academy(GASA) offer projects and services that are designed with realistic steps to develop each young woman's educational, economic, and personal capacity so that she can reach her goals.   GASA is a comprehensive after school program, focused on empowering young women of color, ages 6 - 24 years old, living in San Francisco public housing and from low-income families to develop and grow to be healthy, productive adults.  The primary program site, located in the Sunnydale housing project, serves girls in the city's most isolated, under-served, and dangerous housing development.

GASA encourages the notion of "giving back".  Each program area is based upon the principles of Kwanzaa, which are embedded in GASA's youth development model. GASA facilitates educational and cultural activities for predominately African American girls. GASA girls experience learning in three developmentally age appropriate groups: "Twinkling Stars" (6 - 13 years old); "Shining Stars" (14 - 15 years old) and "Brilliant Stars" (16 to 24 years old).
