WHO WE ARE

The Girls After School Academy (GASA) is a comprehensive program serving primarily African American girls 6-24 years of age. GASA has operated in Sunnydale housing development, since 1993. GASA works to develop meaningful relationships with participants and encourages them to take pride in themselves and their communities. GASA helps girls develop skills to help them communicate effectively; resolve conflicts non-violently, acquire gender and cultural pride, and become strong, competent leaders. GASA is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for girls by offering positive role models, activities that inspire learning and access to educational and recreational resources with an emphasis on leadership development, academic enhancement, and risk reduction.
